The Pedissert – Vol. 10 – “High Pies”

In the interest of full disclosure: I fell into a pretty deep depression (or maybe severe autistic burnout) this summer. However, it had nothing to do with what I’m doing here. That being said, I’m seeing a therapist to try and get my mind right again. We’re definitely making some progress.
While I temporarily took all my websites and social media offline as part of my therapy, I did so with the intention of bringing it back. But just because the website was down doesn’t mean I stopped doing shoots.
Back in August, Liz and Julia recommended another friend to me. Angela was interested in what I was doing, but with one caveat: she wanted to meet me in person first. That’s fair – you’d want to make sure you’re not going to some serial killer’s basement, right? 😁
We met at a vegan restaurant, where I showed her some of my work while we tried some vegan “chicken wings.”
SPOILER: the “wings” were more like “buffalo meat loaf” and not that good. We didn’t finish them.
Angela works in the cannabis industry. I am a consumer of said cannabis industry. We decided to combine our talents and produce a video with some wacky weed facts and “high pies.” We met on a Sunday, and decided to shoot that Saturday.
The local food service store was on my way home, so I was able to pick up a few cartons of Rich’s Non-Dairy Whipped Topping. For the first time, I decided to just use the whipped topping straight up, instead of mixing in something to “ensure stickiness.” I chose blue, green, yellow, and purple as the pie colors, as they’re colors you commonly see in various weed strains. If there was one thing I was missing, it was pot-leaf sprinkles; none of the local stores had them, and I couldn’t find any online that would be shipped in time.
Angela came over that Saturday afternoon, and we shot a fun little video. I was very impressed with how the Rich’s whipped topping turned Angela’s feet into “vaguely foot-shaped piles of colorful goo.” That’s the goal I’ve been working towards, and I think I finally found the formula. Definitely works better than Cool Whip and frosting mixed together! Unless I find something even better, I’ll be going this route going forward.
There was one little scare when some of the cream from one of the pie hits landed on her skirt. Luckily, there was no staining done and everything cleaned up easily. The Rich’s cream was so much lighter and fluffier that I had to learn to be a little less overzealous on some of these pie hits.
In closing: if you were wondering – yes, my therapist knows about this project. And she’s generally supportive.

I was gonna close this post with a good one-liner… but then I got high.
